Ghana’s flag carrier, Africa World Airlines (AWA), has assured of deepening connectivity and providing greater travel options on the highly sought-after Lagos-Accra route and beyond.

According to the airline, with a strong focus on operational excellence and customer satisfaction, it continues to set the benchmark for seamless, safe, and reliable air travel across West Africa.

Speaking at the Trade Partners’ Forum and Award Reception, Jonathan Kofi Appiah, Head of Commercial, reflected on the challenges airlines face on the Lagos-Accra corridor, where many carriers struggle to sustain operations beyond 5 to 10 years.

Defying the odds, AWA has not only exceeded this milestone but continues to soar, offering world-class services that prioritize safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.

“We pride ourselves as the leading carrier on the route with an impressive on time performance. This is because we always do all we can to ensure that our flights depart and arrive on schedule at our various destinations. And in the near future we hope to offer our guests more travel options with plans to commence flights to Port Harcourt,” Mr. Appiah said.

The Airline’s Country Manager in Lagos, Mr. Kingsley Chima, in his remarks, said; “Since recovering from COVID, we have been struggling to return to five flights daily.

However, our immediate goal is to take it to three daily flights and we plan to restore the early morning flights out of Accra and Lagos. We are here today and have survived this long because you supported us and keep supporting us and we would like to thank you.”

The Airline’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Mr. Aaron Nortey said; “Our values at AWA is to be a safe, efficient, punctual, cost conscious, and reliable airline that is committed offering the best service.”

He used to forum to highlight the airline’s products as well as to address issues and challenges being faced by its trade partners.

These ranged from issues with name corrections, voiding of tickets, the airline’s change policy as well as challenges with refunds”.

In recognition of excellence and strong partnership, the carrier celebrated its top-performing trade partners for their outstanding contributions in the last financial year.

At a prestigious awards ceremony, the airline honoured its three leading Nigerian BSP (Billing and Settlement Plan) winners, with Satguru Travels clinching the top spot, followed by Wakanow in second place, and Quantum Travels securing third place.

Their dedication to delivering seamless travel solutions has been instrumental in AWA’s sustained success and market leadership.

Beyond celebrating its partners, AWA is also charting the course for the future of travel distribution.

Speaking at the Trade Partners’ Forum, Jonathan Kofi Appiah, Head of Commercial, announced the airline’s strategic move to adopt New Distribution Capability (NDC) technology.

This cutting-edge innovation will redefine how AWA interacts with its trade partners, providing them with greater flexibility, enhanced fare options, and a more personalized booking experience.

By embracing NDC, AWA is ensuring its partners remain at the forefront of industry advancements, strengthening its position as a forward-thinking airline.

The airline said it will continue to elevate the standards of air travel, deepening its partnerships and enhancing its service offerings for a more connected and efficient aviation landscape.
