In what may be described as a validation of its strong in-house safety culture, the Africa World Airlines (AWA) has been officially inducted into the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Safety Leadership Charter.
Mr. Andrew D. Asante-Amankwa, AWA’s Head of Safety, described the recognition as a major step forward for the airline.
“We are proud to announce that Africa World Airlines (AWA) has officially been inducted into the prestigious IATA Safety Leadership Charter. This recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to fostering a strong safety culture across all levels of our organization,” he said.
He further noted that the charter aligns AWA with a distinguished group of global airlines dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safety leadership, personal accountability, and continuous improvement.
The Safety Leadership Charter was jointly signed by IATA’s Director General, Mr. Willie Walsh, and AWA CEO, Mr. Cui.
The charter serves as a collective pledge by aviation leaders to advance safety culture within their organizations, while IATA commits to supporting this transformation on a global scale.
Built on the foundation of a proactive safety culture, the charter promotes open reporting, trust, and collaborative learning. It underscores that managing safety risks effectively not only protects passengers and personnel but also strengthens business performance and contributes to a resilient and prosperous aviation industry.
