To enhance bilateral ties and celebrate the launch of its new mobile app alongside the dynamic flight programme “Celebrations in the Air,” Africa World Airlines (AWA) has visited Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, on Wednesday, 25th September 2024.

The three-man delegation, headed by Mr. Jonathan Kofi Appiah, AWA’s Head of Commercial, convened at the Ghana High Commission in Abuja to discuss future collaboration.

During the meeting, H.E. Vice Admiral Amoama emphasised the Mission’s unwavering commitment to advancing the interests of Ghanaian citizens and businesses operating in Nigeria.

He praised AWA for being the sole airline offering daily direct flights between Accra and Abuja, recognising its critical role in facilitating trade and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

The High Commissioner urged AWA to leverage its unique position by increasing flight frequencies, which would not only enhance travel options but also stimulate local tourism, thereby fostering a deeper connection between Ghana and Nigeria.

He also proposed that AWA consider offering special discounted fares for the staff of the Ghana High Commission, facilitating their regular travels and reinforcing cooperative initiatives.

The meeting explained the shared commitment of AWA and the Ghana High Commission to strengthen economic and diplomatic relations, paving the way for enhanced connectivity and partnership between the two countries.

Mr. Appiah, in turn, expressed deep gratitude for the High Commission’s continued support of AWA over the years.

He acknowledged the longstanding partnership between the airline and the Mission, affirming AWA’s commitment to delivering excellent service, safety, and punctuality.

He also took the opportunity to announce the introduction of the “Celebrations in the Air” programme and the launch of the airline’s mobile app for its Abuja and Lagos routes, underscoring AWA’s focus on enhancing customer experience and convenience.

Mr. Joseph Sunday Akpan, AWA’s Abuja Station Manager, echoed Mr. Appiah’s sentiments and assured the High Commissioner that the airline would give serious consideration to providing discounted fares for the Mission staff.

He promised that this request would be communicated to the airline’s head office for final approval.

Also present at the meeting was Mr. Aaron Nortey, AWA’s Sales and Marketing Manager.

In response, H.E. Vice Admiral Amoama welcomed the announcements and encouraged AWA to review its baggage allowance for passengers while continuing to innovate and attract more travelers to Ghana.

He assured the airline of the Mission’s continued support in fostering stronger ties between Ghana and Nigeria.

The meeting concluded with a presentation of AWA souvenirs to the High Commissioner as a token of appreciation from the delegation.
