Air Peace has reacted to a video circulating online, which showed a chaotic boarding scenario for passengers on flight P47123 from Abuja to Lagos on December 20, 2024.
The airline has described the claims as “false, mischievous, and misleading,” asserting that the video was created by unidentified individuals to confuse the public and tarnish the airline’s reputation.
In a statement signed by Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications, the airline clarified that flight delays on the said date were caused by harmattan-induced haze and fog, which disrupted visibility and affected flight operations across the country.
To minimise disruption, Air Peace deployed three aircraft to evacuate all affected passengers from Abuja.
While boarding, some passengers reportedly overwhelmed airport staff, including FAAN and Air Peace officials, rushing toward the airside.
This, he said, prompted the airline’s duty managers and ramp officials to mount barricades to manage the situation and ensure an orderly boarding process.
“We empathise with our loyal customers but strongly condemn the misinformation, insults, and deliberate falsehood disseminated in the video post. “Such representations are not reflective of our values or operations”, the Spokesman said.
Air Peace reiterated its commitment to safety as its highest priority.
“The safety of our passengers and crew is our utmost priority. At Air Peace, safety is not just a priority but a fundamental precondition for all our activities,” the statement emphasised.
The airline has urged the public to disregard the false claims and assured passengers of its commitment to maintaining safe and timely operations. Passengers with inquiries are encouraged to contact the airline via its official channels.
Air Peace apologised for any inconvenience caused by the weather-related delays, thanking customers for their patience and understanding during the period.
