Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has secured the contract to provide ground handling services for Air Tanzania at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

This marks the airline’s first entry into Nigeria.

This was disclosed by Adetola Vanessa Uansohia (Mrs.) Head, Corporate Communications, Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc (SAHCO).

Under the agreement, SAHCO will deliver a full suite of services, including passenger handling, baggage handling, ramp handling, cargo and warehousing, as well as other aviation support services.

Air Tanzania, the national carrier of the United Republic of Tanzania, will operate flights from its Julius Nyerere International Airport hub in Dar es Salaam to Lagos three times weekly.

Founded in 2002, Air Tanzania was established to boost the country’s economic development and expand its global connectivity.
Welcoming the new partnership, SAHCO’s Managing

Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Air Tanzania to Lagos and are honored they have chosen SAHCO Plc as their trusted ground handling partner. This contract is a testament to our team’s expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, and unwavering dedication to operational excellence and safety.

“We are fully prepared to support Air Tanzania’s new service, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for their passengers and cargo.”

As the only ground handling company present at all commercially operated airports in Nigeria, SAHCO has built a reputation for reliability, speed, and safety — qualities that continue to attract both new and established international airlines.

In recent years, several foreign carriers have switched their ground operations to SAHCO to take advantage of its dependable, highly trained workforce and adherence to global best practices.

The company has also made significant investments in modern ground support equipment (GSE) designed for Nigeria’s operating environment.

Many of these units run on alternative power sources and are engineered to deliver zero carbon emissions, reinforcing SAHCO’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

In recognition of its high service standards, SAHCO recently signed another contract with Ethiopian Airlines, which operates daily flights between Addis Ababa and Lagos.

Safety remains central to SAHCO’s operations. The company holds RA3, ISAGO, ISO 9001, and ISO 27001 certifications, and has won multiple local and international awards for excellence in aviation ground handling.
