The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the reappointment of Festus Keyamo (SAN) as the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
AON expressed heartfelt congratulations to the President, recognising the decision as a reflection of his astute judgment and deep commitment to the continued development of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
AON’s President, Alhaji Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, gave the commendation in a statement.
According to him, since taking the reins of the ministry, Keyamo has set a remarkable standard of leadership.
“His strategic policies aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business in the sector have yielded significant and far-reaching changes, restoring optimism among local and international airlines.
“Members of the AON collectively agree that, under Keyamo’s stewardship, the aviation industry has experienced a new era of growth and transformation”, he said.
He added Keyamo’s proactive engagement with stakeholders, his unwavering focus on safety, and his commitment to improving the sector’s operational framework have been key factors in the industry’s resurgence.
Also listed as Keyamo’s achievement is his determination to implement the Cape Town Convention, which in particular, has led to Nigeria’s aviation rating improving from 40% to nearly 80%, a notable achievement in a short period.
This breakthrough has opened up greater opportunities for aircraft financing and leasing, enabling airlines to expand their operational capacity and efficiency.
The AON also views Keyamo’s reappointment as a bold statement of intent by President Tinubu, ensuring the aviation sector remains under capable and visionary leadership. In their words, “Governments are often measured by the quality of leaders they appoint, and in Festus Keyamo, President Tinubu has made a choice that promises continued growth and excellence for Nigeria’s aviation industry.”
Sarina emphasised the association’s unwavering support for Keyamo, pledging to work closely with him as he guides the industry through a period of unprecedented innovation and expansion.
The association also commended President Tinubu for his foresight in reappointing a leader who has proven himself to be a key architect of Nigeria’s aviation progress.
With Keyamo at the helm, the AON believes Nigeria’s aviation sector will continue to rise to new heights, becoming a symbol of excellence across the African continent and beyond.
