Ahead of its planned take off, Aviation Hall of Fame (AHoF), a non-governmental organisation, has constituted a 16-member Advisory Council.
A statement from the body stated that the members were drawn from various departments in the aviation industry and related fields.
It added that the Aviation Hall of Fame, established on May 9, 2023, seeks to reward merit, encourage excellent performance and highest standards in service delivery, which ultimately leads to improved safety and security in the aviation sector.
The initiative is powered by Professor Anthony Kila, Gboyega Adeoye and Wole Shadare, who are aviation sector stakeholders.
The statement listed the advisory council members as: Dr Harold Olusegun Demuren, an Aeronautical Engineer and former Director General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA); Dr Gabriel Gbenga Olowo, Immediate Past President, of Aviation Round Table Initiative (ART) and Chairman Sabre Global Technology CWA; Mr Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN); Engineer Akin Olateru, Director General, Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau; Dr. Anastasia Gbem, former Legal Adviser at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority; Mrs Titilayo Akerele, sociologist and ace labour activist, skilled in aeronautical information management and worked at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Mrs Nkechi Onyenso, CEO, Pathfinders.
Others are: His Royal Highness, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaye, former Director of Administration FAAN and the Oluyin of Iyin, Ekiti State; Dr Oluropo Owolabi, formerly of the Nigeria Airways and Managing Director, SAHCOL; Dr Daniel Young, Mr Lanre Arogundade, Coordinator, International Press Centre (IPC), Mr Bode Olorunfemi, Executive Director, Corporate Accountability and Public Participation; among others.
The statement quoted Professor Kila as saying that the Advisory Council was carefully composed to accommodate eminent Nigerians and seasoned professionals, who have achieved excellence in their various fields through selfless service, discipline and unalloyed commitment to nation building and humanity.
The statement also noted that the AHoF is set to commence operations starting with a publication, Aviation Metrics Magazine (AM Magazine), which seeks to inform, entertain and educate the aviation community.
“The publication will also play a role in featuring personalities that perform creditably in their fields of endeavour and flaunt them for public evaluation and rewards”, the statement added.
The Advisory Council is to act as a guide to ensure efficient running of the AHoF and the realisation of its vision and mission.
