Former Managing Director of Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc, Mr Basil Agboarumi, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Management Committee for newly established NIPR Aviation Hub under the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
The appointment was ratified by the NIPR Governing Council during its 115th meeting, held on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
Agboarumi, a seasoned professional with vast experience in the aviation industry, is well-equipped to lead the strategic initiative, stakeholders opine.
He brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to the role. His tenure at SAHCO saw him steer the company towards new heights in operational excellence.
Agboarumi also held the position of Executive Director, Corporate and Governmental Affairs at SIFAX Group, a leading conglomerate, where he led key corporate communications and stakeholder engagement strategies.
His illustrious career and shimmering credentials in the aviation and corporate sectors makes him a well-suited and trusted choice for the Chairmanship.
The NIPR is confident in his capacity to lead the vital initiative, which underscores the Institute’s commitment to elevating standards in the aviation industry and further embedding the importance of public relations in this sector.
The NIPR Aviation Hub will operate as an enterprise, governed by a Management Committee comprising five to seven members.
Its mission is to drive excellence within the aviation industry, promote effective communication strategies, and strengthen the role of public relations in fostering industry growth and sustainability.
Agboarumi’s leadership is expected to guide the hub in achieving these objectives, making it a key player in shaping the future of aviation communications in Nigeria.
In recognition of his remarkable dedication to advancing the industry, NIPR expressed its confidence that the NIPR Aviation Hub will thrive under Agboarumi’s stewardship, delivering tangible contributions to the industry’s development.
The official inauguration of the Management Committee took place virtually on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 8:00 p.m.
The ceremony was presided over by NIPR’s National President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, and attended by other council members.
In addition to Agboarumi’s appointment, other key professionals were named to lead newly created NIPR hubs.
Dr. Jossy Nkwocha will head the Energy Hub, Mr. Rasheed Bolarinwa has been appointed to lead the Finance Hub, and Mrs. Thelma Okoh will chair the Maritime Hub.
Additionally, Dr. Ahmad Sajoh will spearhead the Anti-Corruption and Consumer Protection Hub, while Miss Chimdi Neliaku has been named the chairperson for the Young Practitioners Hub.
