Accolades came the way of Capt. Edward Boyo, the Chief Executive Officer of Landover Company and Managing Director of Overland Airways, as he has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate, Honoris Causa (Doctor of Business Administration) by Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State.

The prestigious award was presented during the University’s 20th Convocation Ceremony held on November 1, 2025 in recognition of his leadership and industry excellence.

The honour particularly celebrates Captain  Boyo’s exceptional contributions to the aviation industry and his enduring legacy of leadership, innovation, and service. Bowen University acknowledged him as a professional “whose outstanding contributions to the aviation sector continue to inspire excellence, innovation, and leadership.”

With decades of experience steering the aviation sector, Capt. Boyo has transformed Overland Airways into one of Nigeria’s leading airlines, renowned for its reliability, safety, and service excellence.

The convocation ceremony, held at Bowen University’s auditorium, was attended by family, friends, top dignitaries, and industry leaders, including the revered monarch, Oluwo of Iwo Land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, alongside senior management from Landover Company and Overland Airways.

Receiving the honour, Captain  Boyo said: “I am deeply delighted to receive this recognition and wish to extend my gratitude to the leadership of Bowen University for this honour. This will spur me further to continue contributing to Nigeria’s air transport industry in particular and the economy in general.

“I assure the Bowen University community that I will be a worthy ambassador of this great institution and continue on the path of excellence, investing in our people and systems to ensure a better aviation sector in Nigeria.”

Mrs. Aduke Atiba, Executive Director of Landover Company and Overland Airways, congratulated him, stating: “The Management and staff of Landover Company and Overland Airways extend our warmest congratulations to Captain  Boyo on this well-deserved honour. His leadership has been transformational, and this recognition reinforces the culture of excellence we strive for daily.”

In a gesture highlighting his commitment to education and talent development, Captain Boyo awarded Miss Lotechukwu Ikpo, the overall best graduating student of the Economics Department with a perfect 5.00 CGPA, a cash prize and scholarship for her Master’s Degree programme.

Captain Boyo is a distinguished figure in African aviation, serving as Ambassador for West Africa for the Single Africa Air Transport Market (SAATM), a flagship African Union project. Under his leadership, Overland Airways, an IATA-member airline, has pioneered routes to secondary cities across Nigeria and West Africa, promoting economic growth and connectivity.

He is also the Founder and Managing Director of Landover Company Limited, a leading aviation services firm in Africa, headquartered in Lagos and operational for over 30 years.

A visionary pilot, Captain Boyo remains dedicated to fostering safe, reliable, and comfortable air travel while advancing Nigeria’s hub and secondary economies.

According to stakeholders, the honorary doctorate by Bowen University has formally recognised a leader whose career embodies excellence, innovation, and transformative impact in Nigeria and beyond.
