In an effort to ensure a better welfare package for staff, the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Professor Charles Anosike, on Friday, 7th June, 2024, inaugurated a Committee to review the Agency’s Condition of Service (CoS).
At the inauguration, the Director, Weather Forecasting Services, Professor Vincent Weli, who represented the DG/CEO explained that the review was both important and timely as the one currently in use was adopted over five years ago and longer in tune with current realities.
Professor Charles Anosike, who described the task as significant, noted that it is an opportunity for the committee “to develop a Condition of Service that meets current needs while anticipating future challenges and opportunities.”
Furthermore, Professor Anosike urged the committee to conduct extensive consultations both within and outside the aviation sector and to identify benchmarks of best practices.
This approach, he emphasized, would not only improve NiMet’s operational efficiency but also enhance staff welfare.
The committee has one month to submit a draft copy to the management for consideration.
