The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (nahco aviance) recently put smiles on the faces of many suburbanites in Ondo and a school in Lagos as it commissioned various boreholes.

The initiative further solidified its commitment to community development.

The beneficiary places are; Ode-Aye in Ondo State and Adebola Creative Comprehensive College in Badagry, Lagos State, described as two critical locations.

NAHCO in a statement noted that the projects, being part of its robust corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, aim to provide sustainable solutions to water scarcity and community needs.

Also touched by NAHCO is
Ode-Aye, a community in southwestern Ondo State, which now benefits from four solar-powered boreholes constructed and donated by the ground handling firm.

Representing the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Indranil Gupta at the handover of these facilities, the Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Tayo Ajakaye, emphasised the importance of ownership and maintenance of the facilities by the community.

“Let me explain it this way. If, for any reason, we come around again in a year’s time or one and a half years and we see these boreholes up and running, it would gladden our hearts and we would gladly want to donate more in new locations, rather than spend such resources trying to resuscitate, reactivate or fix dead ones”, the NAHCO boss said

In his remarks, the Halu of Aye Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba William Akinmusayo Akinlade, lauded NAHCO’s thoughtfulness, noting that the project addresses a pressing need as the dry season approaches.

High Chief Kayode Adebusoye and project coordinator Sir Soji Aguda assured that the community would safeguard the facilities, which symbolize a new chapter of hope and development for Ode-Aye.

At the Adebola Creative Comprehensive College, NAHCO commissioned a borehole project complete with a 3.5kVA generator to ensure uninterrupted access to water and electricity.

Speaking on behalf of the GMD/CEO, Mr. Ajakaye highlighted the company’s dedication to supporting education and meeting critical infrastructural gaps.

“We all need someone to lean on at some point in life,” Gupta said. He added that the facility ensures these students and educators have access to clean water and reliable power, fostering a conducive learning environment.

The school’s Chief Executive Officer, Prince Adegbehin Adetarami, represented by Principal Mrs. Mary Adegbehin, expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing the donation as a lifeline.

He said: “Today, NAHCO has healed a wound that is seriously ailing us as an institution. With this life – changing gift, not only has it quenched our thirst for clean water, but also illuminates out path to a brighter future with the provision of a generator; and to which we shall remain forever grateful.”

He added that the project not only quenches the school’s thirst for clean water but also powers their dreams of a brighter future.

The initiative received accolades from community leaders and stakeholders.

The Divisional Police Officer of Morogbo, CSP Adekunle Olaitan, commended NAHCO for instilling the values of social responsibility in students, while the PTA Chairman, Dr. Okedusi Olorunsola, called on other organizations to emulate NAHCO’s exemplary CSR model.

With its focus on sustainable development, NAHCO continues to transform lives across Nigeria.

The borehole projects, the company noted, exemplifies its commitment to creating lasting solutions, empowering communities and building a legacy of hope and progress.
