In a strategic step towards the successful launch of the newly established Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has formalized a partnership with the Ekiti State Government through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU signing ceremony, held at NAMA’s headquarters annex at Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos recently, saw the participation of key officials from both the Ekiti State Government and NAMA.

This agreement underscores a mutual commitment to ensuring the airport’s smooth and effective operation.

Engimeer Farouk Ahmed Umar, Managing Director of NAMA, highlighted the significance of the MoU in his remarks.

Represented by Mrs. Isemiuhonmon Rita Egbadon, NAMA’s Director of Legal Services and Company Secretary, Umar described the agreement as more than just a contractual obligation.

He emphasized that it symbolizes a shared vision and dedication to achieving excellence in air traffic management, which is vital for the airport’s seamless operations.

“This MoU is not just a document; it is a pledge to uphold the highest standards of quality, performance, and transparency. We are committed to fostering open communication and adaptability, as aviation is a crucial driver of economic development,” he said.

Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, represented the state at the event.

She underscored the importance of this partnership in enhancing the safety, efficiency, and reliability of airspace management as the cargo airport approaches full operation.

Adubiaro expressed confidence that the establishment of the airport would significantly boost tourism, facilitate smoother air travel, and drive economic growth and job creation in Ekiti State.

She affirmed that the collaboration with NAMA is a testament to the shared commitment of both parties to advancing aviation infrastructure and services in Nigeria.

“Our goal is to leverage NAMA’s expertise to ensure effective air traffic management and the highest standards of safety for all airspace users,” she said.

Adubiaro also assured NAMA of the Ekiti State Government’s dedication to the successful implementation of the MoU, emphasizing that the partnership would be guided by mutual respect and transparency.

The collaboration marks a pivotal moment in Ekiti State’s journey towards establishing itself as a key player in Nigeria’s aviation sector, with the new airport poised to become a vital hub for agro-allied cargo and other economic activities.
