The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a partial closure of the Lagos airport access road on Saturday, October 18, 2025, to allow the Nigerian Air Force conduct its annual 10km walk/jog exercise.

According to a statement issued by FAAN, the temporary closure will affect the stretch between Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) from 6:00 a.m.

FAAN assured passengers, airlines, and airport users that flight operations will not be disrupted, emphasizing that the exercise is strictly a traffic management measure.

“Security personnel will be stationed along the access roads to direct traffic and ensure public safety throughout the exercise. We want to reassure all travelers that airport operations will continue as scheduled,” the statement read.

The airport authority, however, advised travelers and motorists to plan their movements ahead of time, as minor traffic delays may occur around the airport corridor during the exercise.

“The access roads will be reopened immediately after the exercise concludes,” FAAN added.

The Authority also appealed for public understanding, noting that the annual fitness exercise is part of the Air Force’s efforts to promote the health and operational readiness of its personnel.

“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the cooperation of the traveling public,” the statement said.

With Lagos being Nigeria’s busiest aviation hub, the advisory serves as an early warning for travelers catching early flights on Saturday morning to allow extra time for airport access.

By mid-morning, normal traffic flow is expected to resume fully, FAAN confirmed.
