Cheers of hearty celebrations are currently resonating through Nigeria and Africa, as the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Olubunmi Kuku has been nominated as the Regional Advisor for Africa on the Airport Council International (ACI) World Governing Board.
The prestigious nomination was officially ratified on September 20, 2024, during the ACI Africa General Assembly held in South Africa, heralding a significant milestone for Ms. Kuku and the entire African aviation community.
In her new role as Regional Advisor, Kuku will be instrumental in shaping vital policies and strategies that affect airports throughout the continent.
Representing Africa on the ACI World Governing Board; which oversees 2,100 airports and 814 members across 169 countries; she will champion the unique challenges and opportunities faced by African airports.
Her extensive expertise in infrastructure finance and aviation will prove invaluable as she tackles pressing issues such as infrastructure development, safety regulations, and sustainable practices, all aimed at enhancing the efficiency and global competitiveness of African airports.
Kuku’s exceptional leadership has not gone unnoticed.
During the ACI Africa Conference in Johannesburg, she and her dedicated team at FAAN received two prestigious safety awards, recognizing the outstanding services and operational excellence of both Port Harcourt International Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
These accolades are a testament to her unwavering commitment to elevating aviation standards in Nigeria and her visionary approach to fostering a robust and resilient aviation industry across Africa.
“I am deeply honoured to be elected as the Regional Advisor for Africa on the ACI World Governing Board,” stated Olubunmi Kuku.
