The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is accelerating work on the rehabilitation and expansion of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), with Managing Director/CEO Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku taking a hands-on approach.
On Friday, she conducted an on-site inspection of the Temporary Terminal and car park, key components of the airport’s ongoing modernisation project.
“This visit ensures FAAN is ready to deliver the improved terminal experience promised to Nigerians,” Kuku said.

The project, backed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and supervised by the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is being delivered in two phases: the remodelling of Terminal 1 and the extension of Terminal 2. The Temporary Terminal, soon to be operational for departures, will allow several airlines to operate seamlessly while major renovations continue.
FAAN has also built a temporary car park and arrivals area, complete with improved road access to ease passenger movement. Terminal 1, the national workhorse for 48 years, has never undergone such a comprehensive upgrade.
“Our goal is to transform MMIA into an airport that reflects Nigeria’s ambition. Nigerians will be proud of the result,” Kuku said, reaffirming FAAN’s commitment to world-class facilities and enhanced passenger experience.
