The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled its Integrated ISO Policy as part of efforts to entrench global standards of quality, safety and environmental sustainability across all Nigerian airports.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, represented by the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Dr. Luqman Emiola, formally launched the policy at a ceremony held on Monday, October 21, 2025.

In her opening remarks, the Director of Special Duties, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, described the initiative as a milestone in FAAN’s transformation journey, stressing that the audit-driven policy will help measure and strengthen the Authority’s commitment to customer satisfaction, quality assurance, and environmental responsibility.

The new Integrated ISO Policy merges two globally recognised standards — ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) — into a unified operational framework.

Through this integration, FAAN aims to institutionalise a culture of excellence in service delivery, operational safety, and sustainability across its airports nationwide.

Management revealed that FAAN has completed about 70 percent of the certification process, with external auditors scheduled to visit in November to review compliance and close existing gaps.

The Authority targets full ISO certification by December 2025.

In his goodwill message, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire, lauded Mrs. Kuku and the management team for spearheading the project, noting that the initiative reflects FAAN’s proactive approach to aligning with international aviation standards.

He reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to supporting the certification drive until completion.

Mrs. Kuku, in her message, underscored the operational discipline embedded in the new policy, stating that “if it is not documented, it is considered not done.”

She explained that the ISO Policy provides a framework for consistent internal audits and performance tracking across all directorates, ensuring accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

FAAN reiterated its resolve to operate airports that are safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally responsible, while also fostering a healthy work environment and supporting host communities.

In closing, the General Manager, Special Duties, commended management’s dedication, noting that the ISO certification will not only enhance FAAN’s operational standards but also strengthen Nigeria’s reputation in global aviation.
