The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has taken another bold step toward strengthening its workforce and aligning its operations with global aviation standards.
On July 22, 2025, FAAN, through its Training School, signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai-based ATOM Training Services, a renowned aviation training institute, to advance the Authority’s human capital development initiatives.
The agreement, signed at ATOM’s headquarters in Dubai, is expected to significantly enhance the competence of FAAN personnel, particularly in safety-critical operations.
The MoU follows months of strategic planning and engagement between both organisations and signals a new phase in FAAN’s commitment to world-class training.
The FAAN delegation was led by Dr. Luqman Emiola Olatunbosun, Director of Human Resources and Administration, while ATOM was represented by its General and Accountable Manager, Abdulla Almemari.
During the visit, the FAAN team toured ATOM’s advanced training facilities and held detailed discussions with its management team before the formal signing ceremony.
Speaking on the collaboration, Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku, FAAN’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, reiterated the Authority’s dedication to building institutional strength through people.
“Every institution is only as powerful as the human resources managing it. Therefore, we will prioritise the enhancement of institutional and human capacity.
Working with national and international bodies, we will promote Nigeria’s image and strengthen the network of FAAN,” she said.
Since assuming office on December 18, 2023, Mrs. Kuku’s administration has facilitated training and certification for over 3,000 staff members, reflecting her strong focus on operational excellence and workforce development.
ATOM Training Services, widely respected for delivering ICAO-compliant training across key aviation disciplines, will provide FAAN staff with specialised programs in air traffic management, emergency response, safety oversight, and regulatory compliance.
These globally benchmarked courses are designed to improve operational efficiency, strengthen safety culture, and align FAAN’s processes with international best practices.
The partnership is a strategic pillar of FAAN’s Training Department plan and underscores the Authority’s proactive investment in capacity building.
By equipping its personnel with internationally recognised training, FAAN aims to solidify its reputation as a leading aviation authority in Africa and strengthen its relevance on the global stage.
