Ebonyi State Governor, Mr. Francis Nwifuru, has requested the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to provide technical support for the certification of the Ebonyi State International Airport.
Governor Nwifuru made this appeal during a courtesy visit to the Acting Director-General of Civil Aviation (Ag. DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja.
During the meeting, the governor outlined Ebonyi State’s broader transport master plan, highlighting the strategic role of the state-of-the-art airport. He emphasised that the facility is designed to serve not only Ebonyi State but also neighboring states, including Abia, Benue, and parts of Cross River.
In response, Capt. Najomo expressed appreciation for the governor’s visit and reiterated NCAA’s readiness to provide the necessary technical expertise and regulatory oversight to facilitate the airport’s certification process.
“We are fully committed to supporting this project by providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, in line with the Federal Government’s ease of doing business policy,” Capt. Najomo assured.
The certification of Ebonyi State International Airport, stakeholders note, is expected to bolster regional connectivity, enhance economic opportunities, and position the state as a key hub in Nigeria’s aviation landscape.
