The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has been lauded by the Independent Corrupt Practices & Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for its total compliance with the ICPC’s standing order regarding the operations of Anti-Corruption and Transparency Units (ACTUs) in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The Director of the System Study and Review Department (SSRD) at ICPC, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, praised the aviation regulator’s exemplary adherence to the agency’s standards, calling it a model for other government agencies. He made this statement during the induction ceremony for members of the NCAA ACTU team in Abuja.

The 12-man ACTU team, also known as NCAA ambassadors, was inaugurated last December as an internal mechanism for preventing corruption.

In his address at the ceremony, NCAA Director General, Captain Chris Najomo, described the ICPC’s recognition as a significant milestone in the agency’s corporate governance and financial processes, marking its ongoing commitment to meet international standards.

“We are delighted to receive this report of complete compliance with the ICPC standing order,” said Captain Najomo.

“It shows that the NCAA is on the right track to meeting its objectives of aligning its operations with the best global financial operating standards. This recognition will motivate us to continue ensuring that we remain on the right path, closing any gaps identified in our financial dealings, operations, and oversight functions.”

Barrister (Mrs.) Bukola Aduragbemi Teriba, Head of NCAA’s ACTUs and Regional Manager of the Lagos Regional Office, also expressed her satisfaction, saying, “The team is pleased with the good news. It reflects the tireless efforts we have made to ensure that the NCAA meets the highest financial operating standards.

“Our vision is to align with the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set forth in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) document.”

Since 2019, the ICPC has been deploying its Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) annually across all federal government MDAs to promote transparency within the public sector.

The initiative aims to measure institutional integrity and accountability, combat corruption, and foster innovation, productivity, and efficiency in government operations.
