Kano State Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, will serve as Special Guests of Honour at the 53rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) holding in Kano.
Also listed is Capt. Chris Najomo, Acting Director-General of Civil Aviation, who will deliver the keynote address, while Alhaji Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarin, President of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), will chair the event.
Engineer Farouk Umar, Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), will act as the Chief Host.
In a recent statement, NATCA President Mr. Abayomi Agoro, announced that the AGM will take place from November 27–28, 2024, at the Bristol Palace Hotel, 54/56 Guda Abdullah Road, Farm Centre, Kano.
This year’s theme is, “Sustainability of the Renewed Hope Agenda in Aviation: The Imperative of Manpower Development and Efficient Air Navigation Services.”
Agoro highlighted the significance of the theme, explaining that it provides a platform for stakeholders to assess the Federal Government’s renewed hope agenda within the aviation sector.
“NATCA is one of the key associations in the Nigerian aviation industry. And through our performance, we have been able to ensure safety in the airspace. The essence of this year’s theme is for us to chronicle the impact of the renewed hope agenda of the Federal Government, looking at the aviation industry,” he stated.
Agoro added that NATCA remains committed to monitoring the effects of government policies, noting, “Eighteen months after the agenda’s launch, it is crucial for stakeholders, professionals, and analysts to evaluate its influence on manpower development in aviation.”
The AGM will gather CEOs of all aviation agencies and industry stakeholders, including Mr. Joseph Imalighwe, Acting Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria; Professor Charles Anosike, Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet); and Capt. Alex Badeh Jr., Director-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
