Nigeria’s aviation gateway and its public broadcasting powerhouse are charting a new course to reshape the country’s narrative, starting from the departure hall.

The Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head, Aeronautical Services at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2), Mr. Remi Jibodu, has said the terminal is determined to leverage strategic media partnerships to project a modern, innovative and investment-ready Nigeria.

He spoke during a courtesy visit by the Director of Lagos Operations at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Princess Adenike Adegoke, describing the engagement as a convergence of influence between two institutions that help shape public perception.

“Aviation is often the first physical experience of a country, while broadcasting is the first voice people hear. Together, we shape impressions,” Jibodu said.

He noted that FRCN’s expansive national footprint and legacy of promoting unity and development make it a natural partner in telling the evolving story of Nigeria’s aviation sector.

According to him, MMA2 has deliberately positioned itself as more than a functional airport terminal.

“The terminal was deliberately designed not just as a transit hub but as a destination that enhances comfort and convenience for travellers,” he stated.

Jibodu explained that from the integrated car park and streamlined terminal access to the art gallery, retail outlets and vibrant food court, the infrastructure reflects a conscious effort to combine efficiency with culture and commerce.

He stressed that operational excellence and passenger satisfaction remain central to the terminal’s philosophy, particularly as traffic surges during peak festive seasons.

Referencing the internationally recognised “Detty December” influx, he said the period has transformed Lagos into a global meeting point, placing added responsibility on airport facilities to deliver memorable first impressions.

“We have been intentional about creating an ambience that reflects a modern Nigeria and leaves a positive first impression on returning diaspora and international visitors,” he said.

As a key entry point for millions of travellers annually, Jibodu added that MMA2 carries a national branding mandate.

“We understand that perception matters. The experience here can influence how people talk about Nigeria when they return home,” he remarked, expressing confidence that collaboration with FRCN would amplify positive aviation stories nationwide.

In her response, Princess Adegoke underscored FRCN’s role as a unifying platform with unmatched reach.

She highlighted the Lagos operations’ management of Metro FM 97.7, Radio One 103.5 and Bond FM, noting that multilingual broadcasting ensures cultural inclusivity.

“Wherever Nigerians come from, Radio Nigeria provides a familiar voice, making listeners ‘feel at home’ through language and culture,” she said.

Princess Adegoke commended MMA2’s infrastructure upgrades and professionalism, describing the terminal as “a glowing example of private sector efficiency in airport management.”

She also praised the global traction of Detty December, calling it a cultural and economic asset that deserves sustained promotion.

Assuring continued partnership, she pledged that Radio Nigeria would deploy its terrestrial and digital platforms to spotlight MMA2’s milestones and develop public service content to educate travellers on procedures, safety protocols and emerging developments.

Together, the aviation hub and the broadcasting giant appear poised to rewrite Nigeria’s travel narrative — one arrival and one broadcast at a time.
