Passengers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) Domestic Terminal are experiencing delays following a temporary disruption in flight operations caused by a technical fault affecting baggage screening equipment.

In a notice to travellers, management said the issue has specifically impacted baggage processing and loading, slowing down standard procedures and affecting departure schedules.

“We sincerely regret to inform you of a temporary disruption affecting flight operations… specifically impacting baggage processing and loading,” the statement read.

The disruption, according to the airport authority, stems from a malfunction in screening equipment within the terminal.

While efforts are underway to fix the fault, the situation has led to longer processing times for passengers and, in some cases, delayed departures.

“We understand the inconvenience and uncertainty this may cause, and we truly appreciate your patience during this time,” the management added.

To mitigate the impact, authorities have activated alternative screening procedures using available equipment to ensure that flights continue operating safely. However, these interim measures are also contributing to slower processing and operational delays.

“Our ground teams are fully mobilised and on hand to support passengers, provide updates, and prioritise affected flights,” the statement noted, adding that coordination with airport authorities is ongoing to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

The management assured passengers that safety remains the top priority, even as additional checks are being implemented to keep operations running under the constrained conditions.

While expressing regret over the inconvenience, the airport urged travellers to remain patient and cooperate with ground staff as efforts continue to stabilise operations.

“We are doing everything within our control to expedite the process and reduce the impact on your travel plans,” the statement said.

Passengers were also advised to stay alert for further updates as the situation evolves, with assurances that normal flight operations will resume once the technical issues are fully resolved.
