Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has confirmed that Captain Chris Najomo will continue in his role as the acting Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), dispelling concerns about the expiration of his tenure.

Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of Press and Public Affairs for the Ministry, highlighted that the Public Service Rules (PRS), specifically section 7: 020704(b), govern acting appointments, saying the rules stipulate that an acting appointment should not exceed one year, but may be extended for an additional year under exceptional circumstances and Najomo has been in office for only six months.

“To clarify, President Bola Tinubu did not appoint Captain Chris Najomo for a six-month tenure. His appointment as Acting Director General was necessitated by the suspension of the former Director-General due to an ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission into allegations of corruption.

“This clarification is necessary to prevent unnecessary tension and disaffection within the Civil Aviation Industry. There is no concern about the tenure of Capt. Chris Najomo; he remains the Acting Director General of the NCAA,” the statement concluded.
