The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has been recognised by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for its commitment to transparency, integrity and efficiency in public service.

This was disclosed by Abdullahi Musa, the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of NAMA.

According to him, the recognition follows NAMA’s strong performance in the 2024 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) and the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) Effectiveness Index, an annual evaluation conducted by the ICPC across Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

In a post-deployment letter dated February 6, 2025, the ICPC acknowledged NAMA’s efforts, stating:

“Sequel to the deployment, scoring, and ratings of assessed MDAs, your documents were analyzed, and your agency had a score of 76.5%, which connotes substantial compliance on the EICS and a non-existent status in the AEI (ACTU Effectiveness Index).”

Expressing delight at this commendation, NAMA’s Managing Director, Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk, reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to upholding ethical standards.

“We are delighted with this commendation coming from ICPC as an integrity watchdog. We are not surprised anyway, because at NAMA, we are highly professional in our processes and procedures.

“We know that safety is sacrosanct, just like we maintain zero tolerance for corruption, so we won’t take this feat for granted.

“I want to assure you that going forward, we will not relent but shall continue to improve on our current transparency and integrity rating in all our financial dealings.

“We will also align ourselves with Performance Indicators (KPIs), as dictated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs),” Farouk said.

Since its introduction in 2019, the ICPC’s Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) has served as a key tool in promoting accountability and ethical governance across Federal Government MDAs.

The initiative is designed to enhance transparency, institutional integrity, and operational efficiency while fostering innovation and best practices in public service management.
