The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has announced that its annual Search and Rescue (SAR) Simulation Exercise will take place on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
As part of preparations, a pre-exercise debriefing was held on Wednesday at the airport, bringing together key players across Nigeria’s aviation and emergency response sectors.
The session provided an opportunity for participating organisations to present readiness reports and outline operational plans ahead of the simulation.
Representatives from NAMA, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), the Nigerian Air Force, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Medical Centre (Jabi), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), SAHCO, community leaders, Air Peace, and Max Air were all in attendance.
During the debriefing, the agencies reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring a robust, well-coordinated, and efficient response framework for any airspace-related emergencies.
The SAR simulation exercise remains a vital element of Nigeria’s aviation safety protocol, designed to rigorously test operational preparedness, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and enhance response capabilities in real-life emergency scenarios.
