The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will hold a consumer awareness programme to educate air travellers on their rights, responsibilities and duties.
The initiative aims to improve travel experiences and drive the adoption of the Authority’s innovative AI-driven consumer rights protection and dispute management portal.
The event is scheduled for Friday, November 22, 2024, at 9:00am, taking place simultaneously at two locations in Abuja.
Pliance Global Aviation Limited will facilitate the National Civil Aviation Stakeholder Awareness Summit at the Federal Secretariat, Shehu Shagari Way, Central Business District, while Brisk Systems Limited, a leading digital technology firm, will host the Consumer Protection Digital Innovation Stakeholder Awareness Programme at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
Participants can look forward to a dynamic lineup of activities, including roadshows, live AI demonstrations, customer interviews, and a town hall meeting with stakeholders.
These activities are designed to bridge the knowledge gap between air travellers, airlines, and aviation agencies, addressing longstanding misunderstandings that have affected customer experiences for both domestic and international travellers.
The NCAA’s Consumer Protection Directorate has noted a widespread lack of awareness among passengers regarding their rights and obligations, such as understanding that natural phenomena may cause flight delays, which neither airlines nor airport management can control.
The forthcoming summit reflects the Authority’s commitment to addressing such gaps under the leadership of Captain Chris Ona Najomo, who is steering efforts to create a world-class civil aviation industry in Nigeria.
Capt. Najomo highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating:
“This programme underscores our dedication to fostering a consumer-centric aviation sector that contributes to Nigeria’s economic growth. By closing the knowledge gap, we aim to build trust, promote service excellence, and ensure seamless travel experiences for all.”
The summit’s core objectives include: enhancing consumer rights enforcement; building a well-informed and engaged air travel community; embedding a culture of service excellence across Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The event also seeks to promote inclusive regulatory strategies and strategic interventions to address critical challenges in the industry.
By collaborating with expert consultants, the NCAA has developed a comprehensive series of programmes aimed at rebranding and redefining Nigeria’s aviation framework.
These efforts align with the Authority’s vision to establish an efficient and inclusive air transportation system while fostering meaningful dialogue among stakeholders in the aviation value chain.
Through this initiative, the NCAA aims to set the foundation for a sustainable, passenger-focused aviation sector that aligns with global best practices.
