Accolades came the way of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Professor Charles Anosike at the weekend as he was named the Aviation Sector CEO of the Year 2024 by Independent Newspaper Limited.

The award, according to the organisers, recognises his outstanding leadership and contributions to the industry.

The colourful and well-attended ceremony was held at the Expo Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, March 15th, 2025.

In the citation read by the organisers, Professor Anosike was celebrated for his remarkable leadership and swift strides in transforming NiMet within a short period.

The tribute also highlighted the agency’s invaluable contributions to various socio-economic sectors, driven by strategic partnerships with both local and international institutions.

“We particularly note your agency’s issuance of early warnings aimed at preventing the loss of property, including farmlands, and lives, especially to floods across the country due to climate change, which is a threat multiplier”, the tribute noted.

Responding, Professor Anosike dedicated the award to the hardworking staff and management of NiMet, and thanked the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for his supportive leadership.

Keyamo was honoured with the 2024 Minister’s award at the event.
