Accolades came the way of Professor Charles Anosike, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), who was recently celebrated for outstanding public service, receiving the BusinessDay Public Service Excellence Award 2025 on December 3.

The award was presented during the seventh edition of the BusinessDay Public Lecture Series and Excellence Awards, which recognises public sector leaders who drive governance, institutional efficiency, and data-driven decision-making across Nigeria.

The awards committee lauded Prof. Anosike for his “strategic vision, transformative leadership, and unwavering commitment” to advancing Nigeria’s meteorological and climate services.

His recognition in the Excellence in Public Service category highlights his efforts in modernising NiMet, promoting climate resilience, and championing evidence-based reforms that set new standards for public service delivery.

Several other distinguished leaders were honoured alongside him, including Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development; Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation; and H.E. Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On the occasion, Prof. Anosike reaffirmed his dedication to innovation and service quality, stating, “Our mission is to deliver world-class meteorological services that support national development, safeguard lives, and advance climate resilience through data and innovation.”

The award highlights Prof. Anosike’s exceptional leadership and NiMet’s position as a benchmark for excellence in Nigeria’s public sector.
