The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) is intensifying efforts to develop the skills of its staff through a series of targeted training programs.
Currently, the agency is conducting performance management training for staff members within Grade Levels 4 – 7 across the South-South, South-East, South-West, and North-West zones.
According to Dr. Nasiru Sule, the Director of Human Resources, these sessions are being held in Kano, Ibadan, and Enugu. This follows earlier training sessions for senior staff, which remain a focus for the management.
The training for junior staff is scheduled from Thursday, June 13, to Saturday, June 15, 2024.
“Investing in the professional growth of our staff aims to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, enhance service delivery and client satisfaction, foster a culture of innovation and adaptability, and ensure compliance with the latest industry standards and best practices,” stated Dr. Sule.
“Our initiatives at NiMet are aligned with the Tinubu government’s objectives and the Aviation sector roadmap of Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
“From Tinubu’s 8-point agenda focusing on economic recovery, food security, poverty eradication, growth, job creation, access to capital, inclusion, rule of law, and fighting corruption, to the performance bond signed by the Minister with Aviation Agency Heads and Directors in February 2024, human capacity development remains a critical deliverable.
“Professor Charles Anosike, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, ensures that both management and staff are committed to these objectives,” concluded Dr. Sule.
