In what industry players have described as a giant step toward modernising aviation operations in Nigeria, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) recently conducted a two-day training session for airline operators on the use of its cutting edge e-flight folder application.

The web-based tool is designed to manage and streamline the interactions between NiMet and airlines by delivering essential flight folders electronically.

The e-flight folder ensures that flight schedules, for both scheduled and non-scheduled flights, are submitted and received effortlessly, providing airlines and pilots with instant access to critical operational data.

The training, held on January 13th and 14th, 2025, in Lagos, sought to familiarise airline professionals with the functionalities of the e-flight folder app and gather their feedback to enhance its performance.

The app allows airlines to request and receive flight folders with a level of efficiency and immediacy previously unavailable.

Once submitted, the flight information is immediately accessible to airline staff, empowering them with the most up-to-date details to ensure smooth flight operations.

The app also integrates a pilot and user feedback mechanism, enabling real-time communication between all parties involved.

This feature ensures that any potential issues can be quickly addressed, improving the overall user experience and enhancing operational efficiency across the aviation sector.

At the training, participants expressed their deep appreciation for NiMet’s forward-thinking initiative, recognizing the e-flight folder as a game-changer for the aviation industry.

Many operators acknowledged that the introduction of the app would help them perform their duties more effectively, with increased convenience and timeliness in receiving flight folders.

The app’s seamless integration into their daily operations was seen as an essential step in advancing Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure toward a more digitised, efficient, and responsive system.

Industry players say that as the aviation sector continues to evolve, NiMet’s introduction of the e-flight folder is expected to play a strategic role in modernising flight data management, reducing paper-based processes, and improving overall communication between the agency, airlines, and pilots.

With continued feedback from users, NiMet aims to refine and enhance the app’s functionalities, ensuring that it meets the dynamic needs of the aviation community.
