The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) have formalised a strategic partnership aimed at deepening professional training and strengthening service delivery in Nigeria’s aviation and meteorological sectors.
The agreement was sealed in Abuja by NiMet’s Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Charles Anosike and NCAT Rector, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The pact commits both institutions to closer collaboration in capacity development, advisory support for aviation training programmes, and expanded access to specialised long- and short-term courses for NiMet personnel.
It also covers staff exchange initiatives, joint training programmes, and the use of NiMet’s Training School in Oshodi, Lagos, for ICAO-compliant aviation courses.
Key focus areas include aviation operations and management, safety management systems, crisis management, aviation security, air navigation systems, airport operations, and jointly organised programmes such as a Diploma in Aviation Meteorology.
Prof. Anosike reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to continuous human capital development, stressing that sustained investment in training, technical collaboration and institutional partnerships is vital to advancing operational excellence and ensuring safe, efficient air navigation across Nigeria.
