The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has provided fresh details on the fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, confirming that emergency response efforts are in full swing.

According to the agency, its firefighting units are actively working to contain and extinguish the blaze, while coordinated evacuation procedures have been carried out to ensure the safe exit of passengers and airport staff from the affected area.

 

To boost containment efforts, FAAN said it activated mutual support arrangements, drawing assistance from the Lagos State Government, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, and other relevant bodies.

The authority assured the public that there have been no reported fatalities, emphasising that safeguarding lives and property remains its top priority.

FAAN added that the situation is being closely monitored and that additional verified information will be communicated as operations progress and more facts become available.
