The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, has been honoured with the Vanguard of Good Leadership & Epitome of Hope award by the Council of Northern Youth Advocates of Nigeria (CNYAN).
The award, presented on April 10, 2026, at the Authority’s headquarters in Abuja, recognises Achimugu’s “immense contribution towards a united, indivisible Nigeria,” the group said.

Led by its president, Mohammed Abdulrazaq, the youth body praised Achimugu’s impact on leadership, youth development and national cohesion, describing him as “a vanguard of good leadership and a model for youth development.”
In his response, Achimugu dedicated the honour to teamwork and institutional backing, citing the support of the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo (SAN), and the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo.
He pledged to sustain momentum, saying he “will not rest on his oars,” while reaffirming his commitment to service delivery and collaboration with stakeholders to build a safe, secure and passenger-friendly aviation sector.
Senior officials, including Mrs AbdulMalik Ifueko and Mr Michael Otunumeruke, attended the ceremony, with colleagues describing the recognition as well deserved and reflective of Achimugu’s growing influence within the industry.
