The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched an investigation into a landing incident involving a Hawker 800XP aircraft at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano State.
The aircraft, registered 5N-ISB and operated by Flybird Aircraft Management Services Limited, departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday, 14 December 2025, at approximately 09:20 local time on a non-scheduled domestic passenger flight to Kano.
NSIB noted that there were eight people on board: two cockpit crew members, one cabin crew, and five passengers.

Adding that during the approach to Kano, the flight crew reported an anomaly with the landing gear and requested several low passes over the runway to allow air traffic controllers to visually confirm the gear position.
According to the bureau, Each pass confirmed that all three landing gears appeared fully extended.
“The aircraft then lined up for landing on Runway 06 and touched down at about 10:34 hours. During the landing roll, the nose landing gear collapsed.
“All eight occupants evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.
Following the incident, NSIB activated its Go-Team to investigate”, the bureau noted.
Adding that investigators will examine the aircraft systems, maintenance records, operational procedures, and crew actions to determine the factors that led to the incident.
“The purpose of this investigation is not to assign blame or liability,” NSIB stated, “but to identify safety issues and prevent future occurrences.”
The Bureau assured the public that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
Mrs Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji, Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance at NSIB, confirmed the ongoing probe and emphasized the commitment to maintaining aviation safety standards in Nigeria.
