United Nigeria Airlines has been lauded for officially resuming scheduled commercial flights into Osubi Airport, Warri, thus restoring seamless connectivity for travelers in Delta State and its surrounding regions.
The inaugural service, Flight UN0548, departed from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, and touched down in Warri at mid-morning on Monday, August 25, 2025.
The aircraft was greeted with a traditional water-cannon salute while passengers were ushered onto the red carpet, symbolising the airline’s renewed commitment to providing safe, reliable and passenger-focused service.
In addition to the Abuja–Warri flight, United Nigeria Airlines also relaunched its Lagos–Warri–Lagos operations, cementing its determination to re-establish Osubi Airport as a vital hub for business and leisure travelers alike.
On hand to receive the flight was Mr. Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu, Manager of Osubi Airport, who described the airline’s return as a major boost for Warri’s economy and social life. “We are delighted to welcome United Nigeria Airlines back to Osubi Airport.
Their return is more than just the resumption of flights—it is the reopening of Warri to greater business opportunities, commerce, and social activities.
This service will have a far-reaching impact on the city and its people, and we encourage United Nigeria Airlines to remain consistent on this route to sustain and grow these benefits,” he stated.
Adding a touch of glamour to the event, popular businessman and philanthropist, Obinna Iyiegbu, better known as Obi Cubana, was among the passengers on the Warri–Abuja leg of the flight.
Sharing his excitement, he praised United Nigeria Airlines for restoring operations into Osubi, while also advocating for more frequent services.
“I was on my way from Ohara and had originally planned to travel through Benin or Asaba. However, upon seeing the advert that United Nigeria Airlines had resumed operations into Osubi, I immediately adjusted my plans accordingly. As a United Nigeria Airlines customer, I am proud of this moment. I strongly encourage the airline to increase its frequency in order to better serve the growing number of travelers,” Obi Cubana said.
His views were corroborated by passengers who highlighted how the airline’s return would reduce travel stress for residents of Warri and neighboring towns, many of whom had long been forced to connect through airports in Benin, Asaba, or even Port Harcourt to access odomestic and regional routes.
Aviation stakeholders say the return of scheduled flights into Osubi will not only ease travel but also stimulate business investments, tourism, and socio-economic growth in the Niger Delta region.
For United Nigeria Airlines, this resumption is more than a return to an old route, but a reaffirmation of its mission to bridge cities, open up economic corridors and deliver consistent value to Nigerian travelers.
