Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Dr Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, has thrown the airline’s weight behind sports development and youth empowerment by backing Nigerian boxing sensation, Elisha “Viper” Obizulike, the newly crowned West African Boxing Union (WABU) welterweight champion.
Obizulike received a warm reception during a courtesy visit to Air Peace headquarters, an engagement that highlighted the airline’s long-standing belief in sports as a catalyst for national pride, youth development, and global recognition.
The visit culminated in the announcement of a ₦10 million sponsorship package, alongside complimentary flight tickets to any Air Peace destination for one year, to support the boxer’s professional career.

The undefeated Obizulike clinched the WABU welterweight title in December 2025, a milestone that has further cemented his status as one of Nigeria’s most promising boxing prospects.
His steady rise in the welterweight division reflects years of discipline, resilience, and focus, qualities Dr Onyema described as vital not only in sports, but in nation-building.
Commending the boxer’s feat, the Air Peace Chairman said Obizulike’s triumph resonates far beyond the boxing ring.
“Your victory has brought pride to Nigeria and highlights the growing influence of Nigerian athletes on the continental stage.
You have become a role model to young people across the country. With focus and discipline, I believe you can take this success even further across Africa,” Onyema stated.
He stressed that Air Peace’s decision to support Obizulike aligns with the airline’s broader vision of identifying, celebrating, and empowering young Nigerians who demonstrate excellence, courage, and the ability to inspire others.
Over the years, Onyema has remained one of the most visible private-sector supporters of sports development in Nigeria.
His initiatives span the sponsorship of sports legends, the appointment of accomplished athletes as Sports Diplomacy Ambassadors, and the creation of a Wall of Fame to immortalise their contributions to Nigeria’s sporting heritage.
Beyond established stars, the Air Peace Chairman has also consistently invested in emerging talents.
Notable among them is Nigerian child prodigy and gymnastics sensation, Stephanie Onusiriuka, a move that underscores Onyema’s belief that early support is key to building sustainable sporting excellence.
By backing Obizulike at this defining stage of his career, Air Peace said it has sent a strong message to Nigerian youths that dedication, discipline and excellence will always attract recognition and support.
The gesture further accentuates Air Peace’s identity not just as West and Central Africa’s largest airline, but as a socially responsible organisation committed to nurturing a confident, empowered, and globally competitive generation of Nigerians.
