Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), has reminded all real and potential culprits of air rage and unruly behaviour that its zero-tolerance policy stance remains sacrosanct and will not be waived under any circumstance.

The reiteration comes from the violent passenger incident on August 10, 2025.

The incident, which occurred at about 2:30 p.m., involved Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who arrived in Lagos aboard Ibom Air flight QI 513 from Uyo.

According to BASL’s Spokesperson, Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, the passenger’s disruptive conduct began when she refused to follow standard safety instructions on switching off her mobile phone during landing.

Matters escalated when she physically assaulted Ibom Air cabin crew member Ms. Juliana Edward, BASL and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers, as well as other security personnel during transport and processing.

Security officers promptly intervened, and Ms. Emmanson was handed over to FAAN AVSEC for investigation. The Airport Command of the Nigerian Police Force has also been notified.

BASL condemned the assault and warned that such acts will not be tolerated within MMA2.

“We operate under a strict zero-tolerance policy for violence, threats, non-compliance with safety regulations, or any disruptive behavior that compromises the safety and security of passengers and staff,” the company said.

The consequences for offenders, BASL stressed, include immediate security intervention, detention, investigation, full prosecution under Nigerian aviation laws, possible placement on airline and airport restriction lists and civil liability for damages or disruptions caused.

BASL urged all travelers to comply with safety instructions, treat crew and security personnel respectfully, and report any suspicious or disruptive behavior promptly.

“Aviation security measures exist to protect everyone’s safety,” the company noted, adding that it remains committed to delivering world-class services while safeguarding the highest standards of security and customer experience.
