For applying and sustaining safety management principles in all its operations, the Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC bagged the Affiliate Corporate membership by the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON).
ISPON is the only organization recognized by the Federal Republic of Nigeria to regulate the practice of the Safety profession as empowered by the ISPON Act 2014.
The institute is also responsible for setting relevant safety standards, registering persons and organizations that are involved in Occupational Health and Safety Practices and for providing impartial and authoritative guidance and training.
At the Induction ceremony, SAHCO was presented with the award for operationally conforming and being consistent with ISPON’s best practice.
Also recognized were members of the SAHCO’s Safety and Quality Assurance team who previously attended trainings organized by ISPON, wrote mandatory membership examinations and underwent oral interviews according to their membership grade were sworn-in at the Induction ceremony.
The team was admitted to different grades as Full members, Associate Members and Graduate Members respectively in accordance to the statutory requirement of ISPON.
Additionally, SAHCO, as an aviation ground handling organization, is involved in passenger handling services, baggage and ramp handling services, cargo handling and warehousing services, aviation security services, premium lounge services and other aviation related services.
SAHCO is also an ISO certified organization and this further demonstrates that Safety is the core of our service delivery as our well-trained professionals disseminate their duties in a safe, speedy and efficient manner.
ISPON was inaugurated in August 1980 as Nigeria Society of Safety Professionals (NSSP) during the Annual Conference of the National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN) as a professional technical arm of the NISCN with a mandate to promote, regulate, standardize, train, certify and maintain ethics in safety.
