The Skyway Aviation Handling Company, (SAHCO PLC) has denied running a multi-billion naira drug ring at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos or any other terminal, describing a report by an online medium, Sahara Reporters as fake, malicious and unacceptable.

The company’s rebuttal was contained in a statement signed by Venessa Adetola, its Head, Corporate Communications Department.

According to her, Sahco Plc operates within the highest levels of international best practices that are supervised by industry regulators and other external security agencies due to the nature of its duties.

She explained that while the company serves as a gateway to imports and exports in Nigeria, its role does not include verification and ascertainment of cargo content as alleged in this report.

“It is therefore fiendish and cruel to insinuate we run a drug cartel”, she said.

The Sahco Plc’s Spokesperson further highlighted all relevant government agencies including the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Department of State Services (DSS) National Quarantine Service, the Nigerian Air Force and others have unrestricted access to its warehouses where they vet all operations to ensure compliance with laid down procedures as established by law.

“It is therefore important to note that this is not the first-time suspects will be arrested within our facilities and we always cooperate with the agencies while they carry out their investigation without shielding anyone involved be it our staff, contractor or business partner.

“As a responsible company, we make available the latest technology to assist Government agencies fight any form of crime within our facilities and we will not relent in doing that.

“We hereby advise the public to ignore this fake news that is being peddled by saharareporters”, she added.
