Succour came the way of hundreds of flood victims at Ogidi, Anambra State, as United Nigeria Airlines recently extended a lifeline to them.
Devastating floods swept through communities in Ire, Abor and Ezi Ogidi villages in Idemili North Local Government Area.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) drive, the airline donated ₦5 million alongside food items and relief materials to more than 200 affected households, bringing much-needed relief to families who lost homes and livelihoods to the disaster.
During the distribution exercise, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines and Founder of the Pro-Value Humanity Foundation, expressed deep concern over the scale of destruction and urged stakeholders to take preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences.
“We are hopeful that our donation will help alleviate the suffering of displaced families in Ogidi,” Prof. Okonkwo said. “We came here with relief materials to bring smiles and restore hope to those affected.”
He reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to humanitarian service beyond the aviation business, emphasizing that United Nigeria Airlines stands for unity, compassion, and shared progress.
“At United Nigeria Airlines, giving back to the communities we serve is central to our mission. “Beyond flying people across cities, we are committed to uniting hearts, restoring hope, and standing by those in need”, he said.
The event ended on an emotional note, as grateful beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture that rekindled their hope after the floods.
“Flood took their homes, United Nigeria Airlines gave them hope,” one community leader remarked.
