The unveiling ceremony, which took place at Luanda 4 de Fevereiro International Airport recently, attracted its customers, shareholders, partners, government officials and diplomatic dignitaries, all eager to witness the exciting moment.
The acquisition of the A220-300, leased from ALC as part of TAAG’s global order book, aligns seamlessly with the airline’s ambition to enhance its operational capabilities and service offerings.
The airline said the modern aircraft is set to operate high-demand domestic routes and essential intra-African connections, contributing to TAAG’s modernization initiatives as outlined in the company’s expansive 2024-2029 growth plan.
Designed with passenger comfort at the forefront, the A220-300 boasts a total capacity of 137 seats, including 12 in business class and 125 in economy.
Its cabin features the widest economy seats in its class, complemented by large windows and the highest ceilings, ensuring a spacious and enjoyable flying experience for travelers on both local and regional routes.
Again, the A220-300 is equipped with 28 cubic meters of usable cargo space, enhancing TAAG’s ability to cater to diverse cargo needs and increasing operational flexibility.
This aircraft is engineered with advanced aerodynamics and cutting-edge turbofan engines, resulting in a remarkable 25% reduction in fuel consumption per seat compared to previous-generation aircraft.
This efficiency not only benefits the airline financially but also underscores TAAG’s commitment to sustainability, reducing both noise pollution and emissions in the communities it serves.
The A220-300 also represents a fresh chapter in TAAG’s branding, featuring the airline’s new livery that prominently displays the PALANCA, a black antelope, a cherished national symbol of Angola, on its tail and winglets.
The color scheme reflects Angola’s rich cultural heritage, inspired by traditional fabrics and patterns that resonate with the nation’s identity.
The company added that the introduction of the A220-300 signifies a strong commitment to enhancing the travel experience while adhering to sustainable practices.
The airline noted that aircraft not only bolsters the its operational capabilities but also reinforces its position as a key player in the African aviation market, positioned to meet the growing demands of travelers and contribute positively to the region’s economic development.
