Following a viral video of rattled passengers on a United Nigeria Airlines’ flight NUA 0504
which departed MM2 in Lagos on Sunday enroute Abuja but diverted to Asaba in Delta State, the carrier has come out to set the record straight.

Spokesman of the airline, Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, in a statement attributed the confusion to wrong announcement from the cabin crew who announced that the flight had landed in Abuja when it actually diverted to Asaba due to weather concerns in Abuja.

According to him, “at all material time, the pilot of the aircraft was aware of the temporary diversion and was properly briefed.

“However, a wrong announcement was made by cabin crew upon landing safely in Asaba, creating confusion among the passengers” he explained.

He added that the carrier would not toy with safety issues being the reason for the temporary diversion.

He noted that the aircraft eventually landed safely in Abuja following improvement on destination weather.
