The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has launched a task force to eradicate harassment and touting at airports.
This initiative aims to flush out louts and touts who extort and harass passengers. The taskforce will also eliminate other illicit activities that dampen passenger experience.
Mr. Henry Agbebire, Director of Special Duties at FAAN, will chair the task force.
Kuku expressed a zero-tolerance policy towards the miscreants misconduct, promising strict disciplinary actions against violators.
She plans to collaborate with all government agencies operating at airports to enforce these measures and announced the establishment of magistrate courts at international airports for swift prosecution of offenders.
To aid enforcement, dedicated phone lines and QR codes will be introduced for passenger feedback. Additionally, airport personnel will be required to display on-duty cards and name tags for identification and accountability. Mrs. Kuku emphasized FAAN’s commitment to providing exceptional service and a secure environment for all airport users.
