Air Peace has expanded its fleet with the acquisition of a Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft as it moves to meet rising passenger demand across its domestic and regional network.
The aircraft, bearing registration number 5N-CGD, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Sunday, May 24, 2026, marking another milestone in the airline’s fleet growth and modernisation drive.

Configured with 189 all-economy seats, the Boeing 737-800 is expected to immediately boost capacity on high-demand routes within Nigeria and across West Africa.
The aircraft type is widely regarded for its reliability and efficiency, featuring a spacious cabin layout, improved overhead storage, advanced avionics and modern safety systems.
Air Peace said the addition is part of a broader strategy to strengthen operational flexibility, improve schedule reliability and enhance passenger experience across its expanding network.
The aircraft’s fuel-efficient engines are also expected to help lower operating costs while reducing carbon emissions, aligning with the airline’s push for more sustainable operations.
Industry analysts note that the timing of the acquisition is significant, coming amid sustained growth in air travel demand within Nigeria and across the sub-region.
With limited capacity often driving up fares and constraining travel options, the deployment of another narrow-body aircraft is expected to ease pressure on busy routes and provide passengers with more flexible travel choices.
The Boeing 737-800’s range and versatility make it particularly suited for short- to medium-haul operations, allowing the airline to optimise route planning while maintaining frequency on key destinations.
For travellers, this translates into increased seat availability, improved connectivity and potentially more competitive pricing.
Air Peace operates one of the most diverse fleets in Africa, including Boeing 777s for long-haul international routes, Boeing 737s for medium-haul services, and Embraer and Dornier aircraft for regional and domestic operations.
The airline has continued to expand steadily, positioning itself as a major player in connecting cities across Nigeria, West Africa and beyond.
With the latest addition, the carrier is reinforcing its ambition to scale operations efficiently while supporting Nigeria’s goal of becoming a leading aviation hub on the continent.
The new aircraft is expected to be deployed across key domestic and regional routes in the coming weeks as the airline ramps up capacity to meet peak travel demand.
