A cabin crew member of United Nigeria Airlines, Francisca Ogbuagu, has received commendation for her professionalism and composure while handling an unruly passenger during a recent flight.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, Dr. Everest Okpara, Chairman of Everight Diagnostic Ltd, commended Ogbuagu for what he described as “exceptional professionalism, composure, and customer service” during the incident.
The letter, titled “Commendation for Exceptional Customer Service – Miss Uche Francisca Ogbuagu,” was addressed to the management of United Nigeria Airlines.
Okpara said he witnessed Ogbuagu manage a difficult interaction with a passenger who was extremely rude and unruly towards her over compliance with aviation rules.
Despite the passenger’s conduct, he said, Ogbuagu remained calm, respectful and composed throughout the encounter.
“I witnessed Miss Ogbuagu manage a particularly difficult interaction with a passenger who was extremely rude and unruly towards her. Despite the challenging nature of the encounter, which had to do with adherence to aviation rules, she remained remarkably calm and composed throughout,” Okpara said.
He added that the crew member maintained a respectful tone and exercised considerable restraint, impressing other passengers who witnessed the incident.
According to him, Ogbuagu’s ability to remain focused on her responsibility to the passenger and the airline’s policies, without allowing the passenger’s behaviour to affect her service, stood out.
“Her communication was measured, her demeanour remained courteous, and her overall handling of the situation demonstrated an impressive level of emotional intelligence, self-control, and maturity,” he said.
Okpara noted that cabin crew members are often the most visible representatives of an airline, adding that their conduct during difficult situations could significantly influence passengers’ perception of an airline.
He said employees who demonstrate such a high level of professionalism deserve to be recognised and encouraged.
“I therefore consider it important to bring Miss Ogbuagu’s positive conduct to the attention of management,” he said.
Okpara urged United Nigeria Airlines to formally convey the commendation to Ogbuagu, saying her conduct represented the service standards and values the airline seeks to uphold.
