Chairman of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), Dr Wale Babalakin, has inspected facilities at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), Lagos, as preparations gather pace for the commencement of regional flight operations.

The inspection followed the recent signing of a settlement agreement on the MMA2 concession, which resolved the dispute surrounding the concession and paved the way for preparations to expand the terminal’s operations.

During the visit, Babalakin inspected key facilities undergoing preparatory work, including the regional arrivals area, apron extension and access gate for staff and concessionaires.

The Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Aeronautical and Cargo Services, Remi Jibodu, briefed him on the progress of the projects and preparations for the proposed regional operations.

Babalakin commended the team for the progress made and urged it to maintain the pace of work to meet the planned commencement date.

He also stressed the need for close collaboration with government agencies and regulatory authorities, particularly the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), to ensure that all necessary inspections, safety checks and operational approvals were secured before flights begin.

The BASL chairman further urged the team to pay attention to the quality of facilities, safety standards and overall operational readiness.

Speaking on the preparations, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of BASL, Mrs Idunnu Oyebolu, said the company was working on two fronts: preparing for regional flight operations and getting ready for increased passenger traffic during the year-end travel season.

She said the company was putting its facilities, personnel and processes in place to ensure safe, efficient and seamless passenger services during the period.

Also, Jibodu assured that the team would intensify efforts, work closely with relevant agencies and complete outstanding projects within the stipulated timeline.

The planned regional operations are expected to expand travel options for passengers and strengthen MMA2’s role in Nigeria’s aviation industry and regional connectivity.
