United Nigeria Airlines has congratulated Ibom Air on its seventh anniversary, commending the state-owned carrier for its resilience, operational growth and commitment to service excellence despite the challenges confronting Nigeria’s aviation industry.
The airline’s Executive Chairman, Obiora Okonkwo, described the milestone as a reflection of strong leadership, strategic vision and the dedication of the Ibom Air workforce.

In a goodwill message to Ibom Air’s Managing Director, George Uriesi, Okonkwo said the airline had distinguished itself by successfully navigating a difficult operating environment marked by rising costs, infrastructure constraints and economic headwinds.
He noted that Ibom Air’s steady growth since commencing operations in 2019 demonstrates the effectiveness of its management approach and commitment to delivering reliable air transport services.
According to him, the airline’s achievements over the past seven years have earned it a respected position within Nigeria’s domestic aviation market.
“On behalf of all of us at United Nigeria Airlines, I warmly congratulate you and the entire Ibom Air family on the occasion of your seventh anniversary,” Okonkwo said.
“The success Ibom Air has achieved is a testament to your visionary leadership and the dedication of your team. You have navigated the turbulence of a challenging operating environment with resilience and for that, you have our deepest respect.”
He urged the airline to sustain its culture of excellence and continue building on the progress recorded since its launch.
“As you mark this milestone, I charge you and the entire team to keep the flame of excellence burning. Congratulations and cheers to many more years ahead,” he added.
Since launching commercial operations in 2019, Ibom Air has expanded its route network and established itself as one of the leading carriers in Nigeria’s domestic aviation sector.
The airline has earned a reputation for operational reliability, schedule integrity and customer service, helping it attract a growing passenger base.
The anniversary comes at a time when airlines in Nigeria are grappling with soaring operating costs, particularly the high price of aviation fuel, foreign exchange pressures and other industry-wide challenges.
Despite these headwinds, stakeholders say Ibom Air has continued to strengthen its position in the market, making its seven-year journey a notable success story within the country’s aviation industry.
Industry observers view the recognition from United Nigeria Airlines as a reflection of the growing spirit of collaboration among domestic carriers seeking to promote sustainable growth and development in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
